Terms of Use — Playbit

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using Playbit ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Use of the App

Playbit is a personal gaming journal for iOS and iPadOS. You may use the app for personal, non-commercial journaling and tracking of video games.

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for unlawful purposes.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the app except as allowed by applicable law.
  • Interfere with the app's operation or security.
  • Misuse optional network features (such as Look up or Search Covers) in a way that harms the service or other users.

User Content

You are responsible for all content you create or add in the app, including games, journal entries, notes, photos, to-do items, and cover images (from your device or from Look up / Search Covers).

You confirm that:

  • You own your content or have permission to use it.
  • Your content does not violate any law or third-party rights.

The app may add a sample game when your library is empty so you can explore the product. Sample content is illustrative only; you may edit or delete it at any time.

Privacy

How data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Cloud and Third-Party Services

Your journal content is stored on your device. If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, sync is provided through Apple CloudKit using your personal iCloud account and is subject to Apple's terms and policies.

When you use Look up or Search Covers while adding or editing a game, the app sends your search text through a proxy we operate to IGDB so matching games and cover images can be shown. A cover image is downloaded from IGDB only when you choose to use it. Your journal entries, notes, and full game library are not uploaded as part of cover search.

IGDB (igdb.com) is the game catalog used for Look up (choose title, description, cover, and/or platform) and Search Covers (cover art). IGDB is not owned or operated by Playbit; its content and practices are subject to its own terms and privacy policies. Using Look up may fill the fields you select from IGDB’s data; you can edit that text. Cover art from Look up downloads only if you choose Cover. Attribution to IGDB appears in the search sheet.

Playbit does not review, control, or endorse cover images returned by IGDB. We cannot guarantee that any cover image is appropriate for users under 18 years of age. Some search results may include artwork that is sensual, suggestive, or otherwise mature in nature. You are responsible for choosing cover art you consider suitable. If you are under 18, use cover search only with a parent or guardian's permission and supervision.

Any future third-party integrations may have their own terms.

Intellectual Property

The app, including its design, branding, code, and bundled sample assets, is owned by the developer and protected by intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app for personal use.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Optional features that depend on third-party services (such as Look up, Search Covers, or iCloud) may be unavailable or change without notice.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business arising from your use of the app.

Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the app. The developer may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms.

You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. You can also remove synced data from iCloud as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when material updates are made.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable laws in the developer's jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law principles.
